My housemate was genuinely upset by Irwin's death. True story.
And you know what? I actually feel pangs of sympathy for his family. Who would've thought?

I am glad Beattie doesn't get to use a State Funeral to boost his pre-election image.
Cannot help thinking the death is a great career move. The zoo will be packed, the Dad who founded it will get a boost, and the wife (who is the business brains behind the recent success) will maximise the momentum the way Priscilla Presley did when Elvis died.
I wish some media would point out that Irwin's death shows that we must all CO-EXIST with the other animals on the planet, instead of exploiting them (which I think is what Germaine Greer was trying to say when she bought herself all the Irwin flak).
I was shocked because you think his whole shtick is so staged ect. Are they going to release the stingray footage?
