another poster design

This time by me. I can't think of anything to improve the top of it. Any suggestions?

UPDATE: This is what I submitted. I would've liked less text and less repetition (the name was a big one) Probably should've used more blue than purple, but it was part of the brief. I could've got away with a more blueish purple though. Too late now. Hope it prints okay. For some inexplicable the trapping on the cyan plate was constantly fucking up.

Thought I should balance it out a bit with colour (did very much like the green) but the more I looked at old baseball cards and packaging, the more I saw how restricted the colour palettes really were.

You can see the reference image here.

two hundredth post!

Got nothing special for this entry other than a) the podcast is in production and b) you should check out The Pirate Bay's Oscartorrents. (thanks boingboing)

Read their brilliant 'Legal' Notice!

To those worried about downloading in case they get sued: by our calculations, your chances of getting nailed are way less than your chances of winning the lottery. Don't think twice about it.

To all intellectual property landlords: we are aware that OscarTorrents might annoy you – but contain your righteous indignation for a while, and think: we're only linking to torrents that already exist. Face it: your membrane has burst, and it wasn't us who burst it. Your precious bodily fluids are escaping.

You haven't beaten us, so why not join us? Think of a new business model that doesn't involve overpriced pieces of plastic and skanky cinemas hawking cheap carbohydrates while relying on $6/hr projectionists who can't keep a film in focus – not to mention insulting your audiences by (to pick a few examples) surveilling us with nightvision glasses, searching bags, 30 minutes of commercials and bombarding us with ridiculous anti-piracy propaganda. Take a look at yourselves. Is it really any wonder we're winning?

it blows my mind

One of the best posters I've seen in a long time. From Gigposters.

Lumpen: Just wanted to say that the James Brown poster was one of the coolest uses of type I've ever seen. Are you selling it anywhere?

Sergio Moctezuma: Thank you Lumpen. The WinStar only needed 5 poster to be displayed inside the casino. So we just produced matchprints. If the casino ever decides to [do] the poster conventionally, I would be glad to let you know.

…I want that fucking poster.
